When I wake up in the morning, the very first thought I have in my mind is: “Ugh. I can’t believe I have to get up right now. Sleep is so scrumptious.” And after that I go get my 4 year old daughter who is jumping like a monkey in her room, all smiley and snuggly. My heart glows when watching Forest Gump and my heart breaks when Jenny dies. Every. Single. Time. My clients are my BFF’s. More than anything else, I care about helping them to be themselves in their business and save time so they can enjoy the finer things in life (like Skittles and chasing their kids). In my world skinny jeans and t-shirts are an absolute necessity. Chocolate fudge cookies with sea salt sprinkle are always a fabulous idea. Fantasizing about Clive Owen, Mark Cuban, and the FedEx guy all on the same day is totally reasonable. Striving for personal success, whatever that means to you, is a must. But at the end of the day, friends, family and love are all that really matters. When I die, I want to be remembered as a person who gave a shit about you. And who inspired you to do the same for others.
Founder, The Sparkle Lab
I hail from upstate NY, like near Saratoga Springs, where I live with my hubby and preschooler. I absolutely LOVE helping others make their businesses fantastic by providing tiny solutions that will ensure you don’t get major burnout by stressing over the little things (and some of the big things, too).
In the simplest words, I’m a coffee-drinking, classy-but-sweary, upstate NY mother of two.
Humans are more complex than that, and I am definitely not the exception. I love adventures as much as I love hanging out on the couch. I’m a closet art-history nerd, and I hold a degree in Information Design – which is an obnoxiously fancy way of saying I know the most effective way to get your information to your audience. Writing copy is my jam, but design is what I do for fun. I spend my time chasing my kids, queuing up netflix series with my husband, and creating for my soul.
I love the i’ve-seen-rock-bottom, do-or-die passion in my fellow entrepreneurs and I love harnessing that power and rerouting it back into their businesses. Rejuvenating and reinspiring business owners is almost as good as that morning cup of coffee for me – but if we’re being honest, most business plans don’t come in a peppermint mocha flavor.
This recipe is a top-secret family recipe. But I will share it with you because everyone deserves these pancakes in their life. Recipe by Cecelia Rita of West Warwick, RI (my grandma’s oldest sister, there were 13 kids total, eek!).
- 2 c. Flour
- 2 Eggs
- 1 c. Sugar
- 5 tsp Baking Powder
Combine all ingredients and slowly add milk until the pancake batter is just the right consistency (not too runny, but not too thick). Pour small amounts (pancakes should be about 4in wide) onto a warmed griddle that has been greased with BUTTER. The butter part is the most important part here because it will give your pancakes nice crisp edges. Don’t burn your butter before dropping the pancakes onto it. You should re-grease the griddle/pan in between batches so each pancake gets the crisp edges.
